 LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 201.6 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, enacted under Sec. 104 of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 that the Bennington Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2015 will be submitted to the Board of Selectmen at 6:30 p.m. on May 6, 2015 at the Town Hall during a regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen for adoption. 

 Upon a finding by the Board that the Bennington Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2015 meets the approval of Bennington’s Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee, the Board will vote to accept the Plan and move immediately into public hearing on the merits of the proposal. 

  The Plan will be available for review prior to the meeting as of the date of this posting at Town Hall during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m).  Should the Plan not be accepted as complete, another submission meeting will be scheduled.  Upon acceptance, should a decision not be reached following the public hearing, adoption of the Plan will stay on the Board’s agenda until it is either approved or disapproved.

 Anyone needing assistance in attending this hearing should contact the Selectmen’s Office one week prior to the hearing.

 PUBLIC NOTICE

 Effective March 10, 2015 all Class V & VI roads within the Town of Bennington will be posted with a 6-ton weight limit. The posting will remain in effect until road conditions improve. Home deliveries are exempt; requests for special exception should be directed to the Road Agent at 588-2660. A restoration bond may be required for an exemption to be granted.

 TOWN OF BENNINGTON

 Effective April 10th: Per RSA 227-L17 Burn Permits Required. Every person, firm or corporation who kindles or causes to be kindled any fire or burns or causes to be burned any material except when the ground is covered with snow, shall obtain a written fire permit from the Forest Fire Warden in the town or city where the fire will be kindled. Violators are guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $2000 and/or up to one year in jail, or both.

2015 seasonal campfire permits will be automatically delivered to 2014 seasonal permit holders on April 19, 2015. As always, you are invited to contact Chief Mike Roina at 562-5258 for permit acquisition, questions or any public safety concern.
