Code Enforcement plays an important role in the community, not only with regard to new construction, but also with the repair and alteration of existing buildings. The public need for protection from disaster due to fire, structural collapse, and general deterioration underscores the need for modern codes and their proper administration.
Applying for a permit allows the Town to review the project for safety and compliance with federal, state, and local codes. It also insures the project complies with the Town’s Zoning Ordinance. Subsequent inspections help determine if the project is being completed to code and as designed.
