While most Bennington residents have their own wells and septic systems or are supplied with water/sewer services through private resources (Condo Associations, etc.), Bennington’s Water/Sewer Commission maintains municipal services, which in 2007 numbers about 225 customers.

Maintenance responsibilities are contracted with the Antrim Water Department.

Water/Sewer Department By-Laws and Rate Changes

Effective April 2007, the Water/Sewer Commissioners have revised our By-Laws. Copies were mailed with the July water bill. A copy is also available here.

Effective July 2007, the Water/Sewer Commissioners find it necessary to increase Water & Sewer rates. The last time rates were increased was back in 1997. The water rates will increase 5% and the sewer rates will increase 20%. A breakdown of the previous rates and the new rate schedule is available here.
