2009 Tax Rate is $23.81
The Department of Revenue Administration has set the 2009 tax rate at $23.81, representing an overall increase of $.02. Typically when the assessed value of the town decreases the tax rate automatically increases to compensate for the differential. Although the Selectmen were pleased with the minimal increase in tax rate they recognize that this is a result of federal stimulus money flowing through the Contoocook Valley School District’s coffer. Bennington’s share of this stimulus money equated to a $180,638 increase in state aid.
